Unlike other modern funfairs, the Carter's funfair is run on steam and has rides that I've only ever heard of such as the "Octopus" which looked like a scary and more lively version of the Disco Twist. For their day, some of the rides were quite advanced and one was comparable to the modern day pirate ship but with less of a safety bar! The dive bomber ride shown below went round and round turning people upside down and they did appear to be holding on for dear life ;-0)
My daughters wanted to go on the carousel but in the end my youngest changed her mind in favour of hooking a duck and winning a Rubik's cube. After spending a few more pounds on the side stalls we headed off to the seafront where all the motorcycles were congregating for their Bank holiday meet. We took a stroll and admired the motorcycles, reminiscing back to days where we were out on our own motorcycles before our daughters were born.
We finished up with some chips and headed home for an afternoon in the garden. We all had a great time and I've included some photos below showing the wonderful colours of the fantastic steam funfair.
