Clements family portrait photography session with Victoria's Portrait and Wedding Photography, Dover, Kent

Before Christmas I photographed Nikki, Steve and their beautiful daughter Elizabeth. On the day, Nikki's friend, Gemma Parnell (aka Make-up by Gem) applied Nikki's make-up ready for her family portrait studio photography session. Elizabeth took centre stage to start our photography session with Nikki and Steve moving in and out of photos and keeping Elizabeth entertained at the same time. We found an interesting use for my gold reflector and Elizabeth was very intrigued with my flower. We had a great family portrait photography session resulting in some fantastic photos for Nikki and Steve.  Looking forward to photographing the Clements family again in July at Nikki and Steve's wedding.

Contemporary family portrait photography studio session with Victoria's Portrait and Wedding Photography, Dover, Kent

Had a great family portrait photography session a few weeks ago with Julie and her family. Julie and I met up before her portrait photography session to discuss the types of photos she wanted and to share ideas. Julie wanted her photos to have a contemporary feel to them with space around those in the photo, and subjects not necessarily focussed around the central point. Julie also wanted some photos converting to black and white and some to sepia.

On the day of the contemporary family portrait photography session everyone was feeling a bit nervous about what was expected of them and Julie's teenage sons were not too keen about the idea of having their photos taken. That said, once we got into the studio and started with some family shots everyone started to relax and I think they even started to enjoy themselves. The lads changed clothes a couple of times, with their ski gear  and hoodies looking fab in the photos.

Here's a few of my favourite shots from the photo session - the bright coloured clothing worked really well against the high key background and the different colour tones translated really well into black and white and sepia photographs.
