Portfolio portrait photography session with Victoria's Portrait and Wedding Photography, Dover, Kent

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing Bernadette and her daughter Molly. Bernadette had contacted me about having some portfolio portrait photographs taking that she could use on her business website, www.thetoothfairycompany.co.uk/, and also wanted some portrait photographs taking of Molly if we had time.

On the day of the portrait photography session, I photographed Bernadette first to ensure she got some fabulous and varied portfolio photographs and then Molly took centre stage. Molly was a real natural in front of the camera and had such a fun time she's coming back in a couple of weeks with some friends for group photo shoot where they'll bring some changes of clothes and have some portrait photographs taking both individually and together.

Below are a few of my favourite portrait photographs from the portfolio portrait photography session.

May Bank Holiday Family Outing to the Carter's Steam Fair, Margate - Victoria's Portrait and Wedding Photography, Dover, Kent

On the end of May Bank holiday Monday we had a family outing to Margate to take a look at the Carter's steam fair. It was a rather windy day so we put on our wind proof jackets and hit Dreamland.

Unlike other modern funfairs, the Carter's funfair is run on steam and has rides that I've only ever heard of such as the "Octopus" which looked like a scary and more lively version of the Disco Twist. For their day, some of the rides were quite advanced and one was comparable to the modern day pirate ship but with less of a safety bar! The dive bomber ride shown below went round and round turning people upside down and they did appear to be holding on for dear life ;-0)

My daughters wanted to go on the carousel but in the end my youngest changed her mind in favour of hooking a duck and winning a Rubik's cube. After spending a few more pounds on the side stalls we headed off to the seafront where all the motorcycles were congregating for their Bank holiday meet. We took a stroll and admired the motorcycles, reminiscing back to days where we were out on our own motorcycles before our daughters were born.

We finished up with some chips and headed home for an afternoon in the garden. We all had a great time and I've included some photos below showing the wonderful colours of the fantastic steam funfair.

New Baby Portrait Photography with Victoria's Portrait and Wedding Photography, Dover, Kent

A couple of months ago I had a fantastic baby bump photography session with Ash and her husband Darren (http://victoriahendrick.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html).
Baby Daniel was born at the end of March and when Daniel was about a month old, I had the pleasure of taking his first baby portrait photographs in my home photography studio.
Ash and Darren came prepared with some soft white blankets and the letter blocks that we'd used in Ash's maternity photos.
Daniel was having a hungry day and although he spent much of his photography session feeding we managed to get some fabulous photos . Take a look at some of the photos below - I think you'll agree that he's a adorable.
I look forward to catching up with Ash, Darren and Daniel in a few months time when I'll be taking photos of Daniel aged six months.

Family portrait photography with Victoria's Portrait and Wedding Photography, Dover, Kent

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing a lovely family. Sue had booked a family portrait photography session so that her daughter Madeleine could get some photos of Joshua and Ellis as a gift for their Dad on Father's Day.

Joshua was keen to have his portrait photograph taken so was first up with Ellis soon joining in. Madeleine and Sue took a break from amusing the boys (I remember some very good monkey noises at one point) and joined in the family portrait photography session.

We captured some fantastic portrait shots of the boys on their own, the boys with Madeleine and Sue, the whole family and also some lovely portrait photographs of Mum and daughter while the boys took a breather and played with some of my daughters' toys.

The portrait photography session went really well with everyone enjoying themselves while capturing some fantastic family portrait photographs. Sue and Madeleine were really pleased with their photos and had a couple canvasses made up, one for Dad for Father's Day and one for Sue.

I've included some of the family portrait photos below.

Father's Day is on Sunday 20th June. If you'd like to have some portrait photos taken as a gift for this special day then please give me a call.

Camera Club Small Prints "Portrait" competition - Victoria's Portrait and Wedding Photography, Dover, Kent

As member of the Gateway Camera Club in Dover (http://www.gatewaycameraclub.co.uk/page.php?3), I entered three prints into last week's small print competition that had the theme "portrait". Each print had to be a maximum of 7.5 x 5 inches and be presented un-mounted.

I entered the 3 photos shown below and received the highest score of the night (19 out of 20) for the print of the sunkissed girl against the wall and received scores of 18 out of 20 for the girls with shades print and the beautiful bride print.

As you can imagine I was really pleased with the result and thought I'd share it with you.

Studio portrait photography with Victoria's Portrait and Wedding Photography, Dover, Kent

I've included a few photos below from a recent studio portrait photography session.

Olive wanted some head and shoulder photographs to use as portfolio photos for her website. Not keen on having her photograph taken, Olive was a bit wary at the start of our session. After taking a few photos and sharing these with Olive, she started to relax and enjoy the portrait photography session. We captured some great photographs for Olive's portfolio and had some fun too.

Maternity photography with Victoria's Portrait and Wedding Photography, Dover, Kent

A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing Mum to be, Ash and her husband Darren.

Prior to the session, I met with Ash to discuss the types of photos she wanted from her maternity photography session. We looked at various maternity photography poses and I noted whether Ash wanted photos of her laid down, standing up, sitting, white/black background, the type of effect she was looking for, etc. We also discussed the types of clothing Ash would bring with her on the day. After this brief meeting I was able to plan the session and also felt that we both knew each other so that on the day Ash was comfortable with me photographing her in various states of undress.

The session was great fun and included a few clothing changes, wrapping Ash in white muslin while attempting to preserve her decency and also involved Darren in many of the photos. This was a great portrait photography session that resulted in some fantastic photos that will provide fond memories for this lovely couple.

Something I thought was extra special about this session was that having photographs taken of Ash with her baby bump was Darren's suggestion.

Baby was due at the end of March so I expect pregnancy has been long forgotten in the busy time of new parenthood ;-0)

Congratulations to you both. I look forward to meeting baby soon.
